What A Client Says About How We Handle Motor Vehicle Accident Cases:
When I was injured on my motorcycle, it was on Father's Day of 2007. And I was going northbound on 77. And I was going into the center lane. And a nice young man decided he was going to pass the car next to me in the berm 'cause he got cut off. So when he passed him in the berm, he came into my lane. He sideswiped me and pushed me across three lanes.
I spent three days in the hospital after the bike accident. And I called my friend who knew Jim Slater. And he recommended I talk to him. So I called Jim Slater. And when I did sit with him the first day, he was able to talk to the insurance companies. And it was a clear case where I got hit. And he was able to negotiate a deal to have the bike replaced instead of repaired. Insurance companies wanted to repair it. And Jim convinced them that replacing it would be a better deal, as it was severely damaged. And repairing a bike with severe damage wouldn't be safe for anybody.
When I met with Jim Slater the first day, I asked him if there was going to be any out-of-pocket expenses my family or myself would have to incur for documentation. Or would I have to give him a retainer to take our case on? I've used law firms before. And Jim required no retainer or any money in escrow. And he never sent us a bill for any documentation he had to get from any doctors or police reports. They used all their own resources.
This case lasted about a year. Every time I called and either talked to Jeff Hawkins or Jim Slater, they either took my call immediately or called me back that day or the following morning. Anytime I had to meet with them because I own my own business, they worked around my schedule so I could meet with them at their convenience and mine also.
I've been in lawsuits before where I've used law firms. And their timeline, they held to it. They said it was going to take six months to a year to get it settled. And it took six months to a year to get it settled. And I was happy with the outcome. It's more than I expected. After it was all said and done with, I've given Jim Slater's name out to a lot of my colleagues. He's done a great job representing myself, my family, my company.
