What is a Personal Injury Case All About?
We've handled over 15,000 personal injury cases. A personal injury claim is when someone does a wrong against you. It has several components. One component is the property damage. That's separate and distinct. That's the damage to your vehicle, your property, your personal things, your eyeglasses, your clothing.
Another component is the personal injury component. That involves the damages to you as a person. It includes medical expenses present and future, includes lost wages present and future. And the most important part of it is the pain and suffering. And that includes loss of mobility and loneliness. And then there is another aspect to that. If a family member has been injured by this, there's a loss of consortium.
A person's entitled to be paid for their pain and suffering. They're entitled to be paid for their medical expenses, their lost wages. If there's a spouse involved, they're entitled to be paid for the consortium, the loss of companionship of that spouse.
They are all components that enter into a determination of value. And our value is determined by how a jury would react to all these variables. Any person who is injured has to be a victim of a situation which someone did a legal wrong. And it is possible that someone could be injured in which a legal wrong was not committed. And we determined if there is a liability for that situation. And part of it is understanding the facts. Part of it is interviewing witnesses. Frequently, there are disputes as to who caused an accident. And we have to on occasion engage our own reconstruction specialist to reconstruct the circumstances of an accident to determine whether there is liability.
