Who I am:
I attended Saint Leo College in St. Leo, Florida, graduating with honors in 1991. From there, I enrolled in a Masters of Public Administration Program at the University of South Florida and obtained my Masters Degree in 1996. I then received my law degree from the University of Akron Law School graduating summa cum laude. Prior to joining Slater & Zurz, LLP , I was an assistant prosecuting attorney for Summit County, Ohio. I have been admitted to practice law in the state courts of Ohio, Michigan and Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Before I started to practice law as an attorney, I was enforcing the law as a police officer for over 25 years. I began my career in law enforcement in Columbiana, Ohio and retired from the Clearwater, Florida Police Department as a Detective Captain. I then went on to serve as the Chief of Police in Boardman, Ohio for nearly 6 years. I have had very extensive training and considerable experience with criminal investigations and the investigations of traffic accidents, homicides, sex crimes, narcotics, child abuse, domestic violence and drunk driving. I have also been an instructor at police academies and authored articles for FBI and Florida Police Chief publications.
I have been either enforcing laws or practicing law for over 30 years. My specialties are the following practice areas:
Personal Injury including Motor Vehicle Accidents & Premise Liability
Criminal Defense including DUI and Domestic Violence
Wrongful Death Consumer Litigation
Business Litigation Civil Litigation
Toxic or Black mold
How I will serve You:
Like all the attorneys at Slater & Zurz, LLP , I am focused on providing my clients with a high level of service and getting results. That means making myself available to answer your questions and calm your fears and anxieties; thoroughly investigating and preparing your case; and then aggressively pursuing it to a successful outcome. Typically, I can get your case resolved without the need for a formal trial through effective negotiations and alternative dispute resolution such as mediation. However, if your case does need to go to trial, I have an established track record of success.
Why I Practice Law:
I believe in helping those who are wronged - whether you have been wrongfully injured or you have been wrongfully accused, I'd like the opportunity to help you. I also firmly believe in developing long term relationships with my clients so that I not only assist them in resolving their current problems but also advise and assist them with preventing problems in the future.
